4 years /4 stories: Story #2

One of the biggest occurrences to happen in Belles short life (and one of the hardest to put to words) was the passing of her Grandma Salynn. J-rods mom had been battling cancer off and on years before we got married. Her body gave out only 2½ short months after Belle (her only granddaughter) was born.

We only have a few pictures of Belle and her grandma together. This is my favorite, taken at the hospital with Belle only a few hours old. The others are too personal to show here.

When Belle was born at 3:00 in the morning Jarrod called his mom to tell her the news. She came to the hospital right away, to my surprise. I knew how she hadn’t been feeling well, but she was up (from the pain of the tumor in her spine) anyway. I will never forget how excited she was to see Belle.

Burnt in my mind are some of the far too few, precious moments they had together in the weeks before she passed. And forever tugging at my heart are the tears that Salynn shed as she held her grandbaby for the last time.

Dang! That made me cry, and I didn't even know her. What a precious and sacred memory for you to share with Belle.
