It’s Potty Time!!!

O.k. Here we go! Belle turns 2 on Saturday and I’m determined to potty-train her this week so I can have her “Potty-trained before she was two”. *wink wink*

The only problem? I don’t know what I’m doing! My dear mother (whom one would normally go to for such dilemmas) never potty-trained any of us kids. When the time/age came for us she would send us on a convenient visit to Grandma Bartschi’s where we would return diaper free.

Now Carter is potty-trained, but that was quite a journey and a battle. After struggling for about 6 months with him I decided to give it a break. After a bit when he was about 3 ½ I bought him a little pop-up book for kids on using the “big potty” and that was it! He read it once, and after that we didn’t have so much as an accident.

Now, I know Belle is ready, she communicates well enough, I’m not so sure on the motivation though. So, I am imploring any of you for some helpful advice. My friend Mariam gave me some great ideas from a book she read, but I can’t remember the name...

the book is "Toilet Training in Less Than A Day", by Nathan Azrin. You can probably find it at the library, it has been in print for awhile.
I like the book as a jumping off point. You can individually adapt it for Belle. By the way, it does take longer than 1 day to potty train the kids, but it is a great program.
I love the flower.

Whew! Thanks! I ordered it. It’s on its way! Thank heaven for Amazon.com! (and friends too *wink*) I love that flower, but I loved all of them... I can’t remember if that one is yours or Lizzy’s. I was on cloud nine yesterday. Rachel and I made out like bandits. We will have to make up for it soon!!

I think it is Lizzy's flower, but who knows : ). It was so much fun to see you guys again. Old (BUT young and spunky) friends just get more and more special as the years go by.

I am so not jealous.

With Matthew, we made a big production out of going to the bathroom. We would cheer and dance and make it fun.

That's all I have to offer.
