AND THAT WAS THAT!!

Well, I’m excited to announce Belle is FINALLY potty-trained! I got some great advice from friends and family, but nothing seemed to work. It didn’t ‘click’ for her.

I read this e-book ‘3 Day Potty Training'. I was a little skeptical. Hmmm... ‘three day’s?’ I thought. Then I remembered the shrinking quantity of diapers she had on her changing table. I didn’t want to have to by ANOTHER pack. I had already been thinking of bribing her with ‘Princess’ underwear. ‘Wouldn’t it be more cost efficient to by some underwear with that money instead of MORE diapers?’

Day one was mildly effective. She didn’t have any accidents in the morning save one, and she woke up wet from her nap. But by the end of the day, she had 3 or 4 accidents before bed. My hopes that she would make it through the night were pretty non-existent.

To my surprise she woke up dry! I started to think this might be working. One of the suggestions was to not express disappointment or frustration when they do have accidents. This was new to me... I had read that it was important to show disappointment/ disapproval. Instead it instructs you to say, ‘Ewe. Yuck.‘ and let them know it’s gross to have soiled pants.

Day two was going rather well, but then it became Nap Time. I prepared myself for the likelihood of her waking up wet. But she woke dry again! And the rest of the day she stayed dry.

By day three she had been dry for nearly 20 hrs. and we haven’t had an accident since.

So it only took me a day and a half to train her! I call it a success. I think the benefit (other than the obvious) is the fact that it was the best experience I’ve ever had with potty training.

The test though came Saturday (what would be day four). We had gone over to a friends’ house for the evening, and I had forgotten to bring an extra pair of pants and underwear- just in case. I was nervous all night, but without event. She did great.

If you know Belle, you know she is not quiet. Now she will yell, “I gah go potty!” as she runs to the bathroom. I don’t think I will ever stop thinking that is cute.
