And I got to be there!!

Zac has been dating this cute girl, Janice for a few months. Well, he decided that she is ‘The One’ and went and got a ring. Here he is, one in love man, and a hot ring in his hand. He had something cute planed, but decided he couldn’t wait. He got up early this morning to drive to her home-town about 1 ½ hours away to ask for her fathers permission as any chivalrous man would do.

On his way out there, he called me at 8:00 this morning. “I just can’t wait. I think I’ll do it today.”

“You’re not going to do what you had planed?”

“No, it’s too far away, and I have so much I want to talk to her about. I can’t wait anymore.”

“Well, talk to her dad first. And then come back here. I’ll think of something cute for you to do... don’t do anything rash.”

“You have an hour.”

So I racked my brain trying to think of something –last minute- that would be worth remembering for a lifetime. No pressure, right? (I do this to myself, you know)

About an hour later...
“I’m done!” he announces, and then proceeds to tell me how well he was received by his soon to be in-laws. (But honestly NO ONE need worry how ZAC would be received by any parents)

“When will you be back in town?”

“About 10:00.”

“That’s when the parade starts.” Janice was going with the kids and me to our local Homecoming Parade -the biggest parade of the year in our town (she had no idea what Zac was up to... he kept it all hush hush) “Wouldn’t it be cool if you could get someone in the parade to hand her the ring and say, ‘isn’t this yours?’’

“... Where does the parade start at?”

He from there called Dad. Dad, you see, knows everything about our town, and was the ideal person to call for such an emergency.

We then met up with Zac waiting for the parade to start. He told us what he had planned, and we waited for Janice to arrive, and the parade to start.

When the time came, this ever helpful Rodeo Queen stopped the parade behind her once she saw Zac. Got off her horse, and came across the street to Janice, handed her the ring and said, “I think this belongs to you.”
Zac got down on his knee if front of the whole crowed that by now had gathered, and proceeded to ask Janice to marry him, with the accompaniment of the crowds’ cheers, screams and hollers. They then hugged and kissed. A curious bystander shouted, “What’s her answer?!”

“She said ‘Yes’!” Zac announced. The crowed went wild again, and the Rodeo Queens proceeded on with the parade.
The happy couple.

Way to go Zac! I'm excited the Bartschi family will have more estrogen to represent them.

When I first read this I said, "Holy Cow. Zac? He was like, 5 when saw him last" Then I realized I haven't lived in Pocatello for a LONG time.

Yay!!! Happy, happy days! Did she have any idea? Was she expecting something like this? When's the big day?!

I love weddings. Which is good, since about 50% of my clientele are brides! I hope all goes well with the planning!

And thanks for stopping by my blog!!
